The ROBUST project is part of TCD’s TRIP Centre research and includes a
long-term trial of electric shared mobility hubs in Dublin, Waterford, Galway
and Sligo, with infrastructure such as e-car charge points, electric cars,
e-bikes and e-cargo bikes; partners include ESB and Enterprise; the project is
funded by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI), with a funding

About the Project
Title: ROBUST: Electric shaRed mOBility hUbS Trial
Scope & themes: Shared mobility, sustainable transport,
climate change; trial across multiple Irish cities to study modal shift and
develop an evidence-informed toolkit for mobility hub deployment.

team led by Prof. Brian Caulfield with colleagues at Trinity College Dublin
and Atlantic Technological University.

What we collect depends on your in‑app choices and consent.
Account & Contact (optional): name, email address (e.g.,
for support or research communications if you opt in).
Location Data (optional, controlled by you): GPS
latitude/longitude, accuracy and timestamp to show nearby eHubs/vehicles and
to understand general usage patterns.
Usage & Diagnostics: device type, operating system, app
version, interactions and crash logs to maintain and improve the App.
Survey Responses (optional): travel behaviour and
preferences to support anonymised research analysis.
Cookies/Local Storage: only for essential functionality
(e.g., session management); not used for advertising or profiling.
How We Use Your Information
To provide core features (e.g., map of hubs and available vehicles) and
improve the App.
To conduct academic research and evaluate mobility hubs and modal shift
using anonymised/aggregated data.
To communicate research or technical updates if you have opted in.
To comply with ethical approval and legal obligations.
Legal Basis
Processing is carried out in accordance with the General Data Protection
Regulation (GDPR). Participation is voluntary and based on informed consent. You
may withdraw consent at any time without penalty; this will not affect
processing carried out before withdrawal.
Data Minimisation, Storage and Retention
We collect only the data necessary for the stated purposes.
Where feasible, data is anonymised or aggregated for research analysis.
Personal data is stored securely on TCD-managed systems or trusted providers
under appropriate agreements.
Data is retained only for as long as necessary to fulfil the research
objectives and reporting requirements, after which it is anonymised or
securely deleted.
Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information:
with project partners (e.g., ESB, Enterprise) in anonymised/aggregated form
for research and evaluation;
with TCD-approved processors providing infrastructure or analytics, under
contract;
to comply with law or protect rights, safety or security.
Your Choices and Controls
You can enable/disable location permissions in your device settings at any
time.
You may opt in/out of research communications.
You can withdraw from the study at any time without giving a reason.
Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict or object to
processing, and to data portability. You also have the right to withdraw consent
and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect
data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we
will notify you within the App or by other appropriate means.
